Following our highly-successful pilot Live performance goes digital workshop in March of this year, Liminal is once again joining forces with ScreenSkills and the team behind the Royal Shakespeare Company’s screen productions of live performances to share understanding with regional theatres and touring companies on how to capture live performance.

Commissioned by ScreenSkills using public funding from Arts Council England, Live performance goes digital will give regional producing theatres, small touring companies and independent producers and directors an insight into the processes and practical considerations of capturing theatre on screen.

The workshop will be delivered over a day and a half by experts from the team behind the RSC’s series of live productions on screen. It will be hosted by the RSC and facilitated by Liminal Stage, a West Midlands-based company creating innovative stage, screen and immersive/XR productions that explore the intersection between live performance and emerging technologies, and encouraging collaboration between the creative industries.

The introductory workshop will also give participants the chance to go behind the scenes as the RSC prepares to film a performance next month in front of a live audience in Stratford-upon-Avon, concluding with an opportunity to discuss the recording with experts the next day.

Who it's for

The opportunity is open to directors, producers, stage managers and other live performance professionals with at least two years’ professional experience who wish to expand their knowledge of the options available for the digital capture of live performances. ScreenSkills particularly welcomes applications from the Midlands.
