Many people in post-production are promoted based on their technical skills. A significant majority receive no training in people management or leadership skills at all. This highly regarded course, especially created for post-production professionals, aims to put that right with relevant, practical, supportive ideas and insights that busy team leaders and managers can put into practice right away.
Each course consists of:
- a pre-course questionnaire to help you reflect on your skills and needs.
- a 5-hour highly interative online session which includes breaks and a lunch break. At the end of the session you make your commitments to action to take into the workplace.
- a follow up individual one-to-one follow up mentor session to support you in implementing your commitments and continue developing your team leadership skills.
This programme is funded by the ScreenSkills High-end Television Skills Fund made up of contributions from high-end television productions made in the UK.
Who it's for
This course is for anyone in post-production who has direct reports, is leading a team or is anticipating stepping into the following roles:
- Post Producer
- Post-Production Supervisor
- Post-Production Co-ordinator
- Editor
- Department leads
The course is open to those running post teams that service HETV.
ScreenSkills is committed to supporting the freelance workforce and this course is only available for freelancers or those on short term contracts (maximum duration 12 months).
Please ensure you can commit to attending the course. As you can imagine, schedules in post mean it is hard to fill places if you drop out at the last minute.
Please note that this is a participative course, not a webinar. You will need to have suitable broadband and be able to appear on screen to get the most out of the course.
We offer inclusive training. If you have any requirements which we can accommodate during the recruitment process and beyond, please let us know and we will be happy to work with you to meet them- angelalaw@everysense.co.uk
We always welcome applications from under-represented groups, including, but not limited to those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds; people with a disability; people from the LGBTQ+ community and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

“This was a very beneficial course, very well structured. It has also given me a bit more headspace and allowed me to think more broadly about the bigger picture rather than just the day-to-day aspects of the job.”
