Basics of Steadicam cinematography
This one-day workshop is designed as a comprehensive crash course introducing the fundamentals of Steadicam cinematography for beginners with little to no prior experience. The session will focus on building a clear understanding of what Steadicam cinematography entails, why it is used, and how it differs from other camera movement techniques.
Participants will be guided through the core principles and theory behind the Steadicam system, including its components, balance, basic operation, and the physics that allow for smooth, stable camera movement. The workshop will break down essential terminology and concepts in an easy-to-understand manner, ensuring attendees develop a solid foundation before moving on to more advanced practice.
In addition to the technical overview, the workshop offers valuable insights from an experienced industry Steadicam operator. Through real-world examples and first hand experience, participants will learn about the practical dos and don’ts of working with Steadicam, common beginner mistakes to avoid, and best practices on set.
