Managing an animated production requires thoughtful planning, an understanding of the artform and creative problem solving. Launching with an overview of project types across 2D/CG/Stop Motion, and combined as series, feature, shorts and title sequences, this course will initialise with the pre-production stage. From pitch and commission, the course will go through establishing a strong creative workflow; matching with a resourceful production structure to anticipate and build a process that syncs project, crew and client with a solid foundation for the full production and post stages and the cyclical links between the departments.

Using a specially crafted example of animation production for the workshop, we can illustrate and inform our learning as we progress with a structured workflow, maintain a running edit and test against possible scenarios to anticipate and resolve. These will be matched with breakdowns of existing animation projects at key stages of the process to positively understand and anticipate successful outcomes.

All the way through we’ll look at how production management needs to support the project, the crew and the client, along with the fiscal and mental responsibilities that can benefit yourself and everyone involved.
