AIMICI provides ScreenSkills accredited AI training for everyone in film and TV

ScreenSkills has worked with AIMICI to accredit a new suite of AI training courses designed for professionals across the screen industries, giving the workforce a credible, practical pathway to build AI literacy and confidence.

AIMICI provides ScreenSkills accredited AI training for everyone in film and TV

AI is already changing how productions are made. AIMICI's new courses, accredited by ScreenSkills and aligned with UK national AI skills standards, are designed for everyone working in film and television, regardless of role or technical background.

Rather than focusing on specific tools, which can quickly become outdated, the training builds lasting competencies and best practices for working with AI responsibly. The courses draw on guidance and frameworks from commissioners, broadcasters and unions, and align with national frameworks including those from The Alan Turing Institute and Skills England.

The courses have been developed in collaboration with Bournemouth University and UCL, drawing on leading academic research including the AHRC-funded report Shared-Posthuman Imagination: Human-AI Collaboration in Media Creation. In addition, more than 50 highly experienced professionals from across the screen industries including writers, directors, producers and VFX artists contributed their expertise during development to ensure the training reflects real-world practice.

The project has been supported by Innovate UK's BridgeAI programme, which promotes AI adoption across high-growth sectors in the UK.

Two courses, flexible options

The training is available as two standalone courses or as a bundle:

Level 1 — Responsible AI for Film & TV 101 (approx. 1 hour): Covers core AI literacy, risk and responsible use — equipping professionals with the essential knowledge to engage confidently with AI. No prior AI knowledge required. Includes interactive activities, short videos, quizzes and access to AIMICI's AI companion chatbot. A certificate is awarded on completion.

Level 2 — Responsible AI for Film & TV: Advanced Course (approx. 4–5 hours): Builds on Level 1 with practical use cases, feasibility assessments and real-world scenarios for applying AI in production contexts. Note: Level 1 is a prerequisite for Level 2.

Both courses are self-paced and structured into bite-sized 5–15 minute lessons, designed to fit around busy production schedules.
