Running Cliché Productions is inviting submissions from live action writers and documentary filmmakers for projects that could be a strong fit for Ffilm Cymru Wales’ Beacons Short Film Funding.

We are looking for:

  • Live action writers with completed short film scripts
  • Documentary filmmakers with documentary treatments

Please send:

  • A logline
  • A short synopsis
  • A brief writer/filmmaker bio

Please do not send full scripts or full treatments at this stage. Shortlisted submissions will be contacted and full materials will be requested if needed.

Eligibility / notes:

  • Applicants must be 18+ and not in full-time education
  • Applicants should have a creative track record in writing, film, theatre, TV, documentary, or another relevant art form
  • Projects must be original standalone short films, up to 15 minutes, intended for cinema audiences
  • Live action writers do not need to be attached as directors
  • Documentary filmmakers should note that the final Beacons application requires a Wales-born and/or Wales-based director or writer-director

We’re open to bold, original stories of all kinds, and are especially interested in projects with a fresh Welsh connection.

Deadline to submit to us: 15 May 2026
