About
I’m an Irish comedy writer based in Liverpool. I’m passionate about comedy,
with experience writing and performing stand-up, sitcom, sketch comedy and short films.
I like to play with the line between comedy and drama – writing three-dimensional characters facing real problems, but always ensuring that there’s a strong comedic element to my scripts and stories. I’m an accomplished joke writer, and my writing aims
to blend emotional intelligence with a strong sense of playfulness and silliness.
I also have extensive experience as an editor, working for Oxford University Press & Ladybird/Penguin Random House, which ensures I have a keen eye for structure, character and pacing, and in addition to using these in my own writing, I am keen to work with other writers in order to help them improve their scripts.
I am also an experienced audio presenter/producer. I love sitting down with an interesting, creative person, and talking about the things that make them tick. In my radio and podcast work, I have had the opportunity to sit down with some fascinating artists to talk about their influences, their passions and their creative process, and I pride myself on my ability to put an interviewee at ease (particularly in a live studio). When a guest feels comfortable, we are able to have a more relaxed, more illuminating conversation.
I love to come up with interesting formats for conversations – exploring ideas that really allow people to get to the heart of their values, their creativity and their passions.
Having worked with BBC Oxford until the Covid pandemic, I started podcasting with the multi award-winning production company Jericho Comedy.
Currently, I’m presenting and producing The Time Machine Podcast, where I invite guests into my fully-functioning* time machine, and to visit the three points in time that intrigue them most. We’ve had guests travel back to the Jurassic era, the Kennedy assassination, Leeds on NYE 1999, and even to the day the sun’s light dies! I love the format, and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to speak with some captivating, creative people!
