Matte painting for film and HETV
This is a matte painting training programme aimed at disabled people working in post-related activity who want to turbo charge their careers and step up into the role of matte painter for film and HETV.
This programme is supported by the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions and also by the BFI awarding National Lottery funds as part of the Future Film Skills programme.
Who it's for
This is not a programme for new entrants and applicants will be expected to have some industry experience and must identify as disabled under the Equality Act 2010.
We especially want to encourage applications from those with non-visible disabilities – mental health issues like stress, depression, anxiety, autism and dyslexia, as well as the hard of hearing, as it’s a role which can suit home working.
What it covers
Participants will get a comprehensive overview of the role of the matte painter, guided by an experienced industry matte painter and also hear from an editor, VFX supervisor and others. We expect participants to create important industry links to move their careers forward.
Previous courses have included sessions with editors Justine Wright (The Iron Lady) and Chris Wyatt (Gods Own Country) as well as Netflix, Lexhag and Digital Orchard.
This is a free course, but competition will be fierce as only 10 places are available. There are also opportunties for some trainees to have placements on TV shows for up to 10 weeks!
