Our mission
Our mission is simple: make it effortless for every freelancer to access the information, support and updates they need to make confident choices about their work, their career and their wellbeing.
“This working group is a great demonstration of AfF's potential - the experiences of freelancers like myself combining with the resources and ambition of our industry's major power brokers to achieve real outcomes. I'm not saying AfF can fix all the problems facing freelancers, but I am excited to see the Freelancer Information Hub we have been working on, and I'm hopeful it will set a model for further tangible action.”
Our approach to date
The Communication, Information and Engagement Working Group has begun work on three key areas:
1. Creating the Freelancer Information Hub - a one-stop place where freelancers can source trusted and up-to-date information relevant to their work.
- Identifying gaps in available information, which we will plug with ‘cheat sheets’ developed in-house with industry experts
- Launching this microsite as a first iteration, to be expanded shortly.
2. Updating the freelance community - with the latest news and updates from Action for Freelancers.
- Establishing clear communication channels, including social media and a regular newsletter.
3. Connecting the freelance community - through in-person events and on-line opportunities.
- Working with trusted industry partners to create a free-to-freelancers event scheduled for mid 2026 - more information to follow.
- Planning regular community-focused events and supporting those from industry partners
To deliver this, we’ve been focusing on:
- Building the Freelancer Information Hub – a growing one‑stop shop.
- Establishing clear channels for updates.
- Working with partners across the industry to deliver freelancer‑focused events.
A founding principle of Action for Freelancers is to avoid duplication. We are working with stakeholders and collating a list of existing resources that we can use/link to on the Freelancer Information Hub, and AfF will fill the gaps with ‘cheat sheets’ and guidance written by trusted industry experts. Additionally, we will collaborate and engage with existing industry partners to deliver any events and provide support where feasible.
Next steps: outcomes and measures of success
By the end of the year, we hope to have achieved the following:
- Expand this microsite into a comprehensive Freelancer Information Hub that offers advice on everything from tax issues to planning career goals, guidelines for best practice to where to seek support.
- Reach the freelance community with updates about AfF via a mix of channels, including social media (Instagram, LinkedIn), email newsletters and direct communication.
- Worked with partners to deliver in-person events for freelancers across the UK with a diverse programme of content-rich sessions, break-out spaces and socialising.
