About Action for Freelancers
Action for Freelancers (AfF) is a pan-industry collaboration to support freelancers within the UK television industry. It brings together expertise from broadcasters, trade bodies, industry organisations, freelancers and producers.
The project’s aim is to champion and safeguard our skilled and valuable freelance workforce by working closely with them to elevate and amplify their voices, and by facilitating the entire TV industry to follow standard practice, work and innovate together, and create a culture in which freelancers can thrive.
About the role
The Project Director will lead on the multi-strand industry collaboration aimed at improving the wellbeing and working conditions of freelancers in the UK television industry.
This strategic role involves overseeing multiple workstreams, convening senior stakeholders, and ensuring timely delivery of outputs such as an updated Freelance Charter and a centralised Freelancer Information Hub.
The Director will also maintain project oversight, support Working Group Chairs, manage stakeholder relationships, and act as AfF’s primary spokesperson across industry forums.
Key responsibilities include fundraising, policy engagement, and influencing senior leaders to drive sector-wide change, while ensuring alignment with broader workforce and industry strategies.
- Salary: £54,750 – £62,250 per annum (based on 3 days per week)
- Location: Hybrid working – based at the Film and TV Charity’s office in Golden Square, London W1F 9AD and remotely.
- Contract and hours: 3 days per week. Initial 12 month contract. Immediate start preferred.
