Project Coordinator
Action for Freelancers (AfF) is a pan-industry collaboration to support freelancers within the UK television industry. It brings together expertise from across the broadcasters, trade bodies, industry organisations, freelancers and producers. The collaboration comes against a backdrop of heightened concern about the wellbeing of freelancers working in TV and film.
The role
The project coordinator will support the project director in delivering work around five key areas: Working Conditions, Recruitment, Skills and Training and Professional development, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Communication, Information and Engagement.
This role is offered on a part-time basis of 2-3 days per week, on an initial 9 month contract starting February 2026.
Salary: An annual FTE of £40-43k

- Experience assisting complex project management (or similar).
- Experience in a role supporting a project lead who has accountability for setting goals, managing budgets, allocating resources, and leading senior contributors.
- In-depth understanding of the UK broadcast TV freelancing landscape, including working practices and the specific challenges freelancers face. A specific understanding of television production as well as the wider creative industries, e.g. gaming.
- Experience of contributing to complex projects that involve multiple stakeholders, competing deadlines and cross-functional collaboration and that may involve complex negotiation and political sensitivities.
- Proven ability to facilitate communication across a wide range of channels and across a variety of stakeholder levels including senior industry figures/assistants.
Other things we're looking for
The below are not prerequisites, but experience would benefit the role, so please highlight in your cover letter.
- Experience working as a freelancer on scripted or unscripted UK broadcast TV productions within the last three years, ideally with excellent contacts and networks within the field of TV production.
- Excellent project co-ordination skills, including organisational and time management skills, with a structured approach to delivering high-quality work across simultaneous workstreams.
- Experience with communications, creating social media and online posts in a professional environment, including, but not limited to LinkedIn, Instagram and websites.
- A proven ability to summarise and clarify complex information into effective, clear communications (eg reports, scoping documents) while supporting senior team members.
- Clear understanding of competition law or a willingness to work within its requirements (training and guidance provided), especially in collaborative, pan-industry environments.
- Discretion and sensitivity; ability to have and manage difficult conversations.
