The HETV Skills Fund is looking for a training provider or organisation who can design and run a communications skills programme in Northern Ireland for 20 HETV production office crew at all levels to improve their skills in prioritisation, delegation, giving and receiving feedback, dealing with difficult people, and self and team care.
The training provider or organisation must set up, manage, market, recruit and deliver a training programme designed to help members of a HETV production office team gain the awareness, confidence and skills to enhance communication and collaboration across a crew and production.
This intensive programme is likely to be delivered face-to-face in Belfast and involve practical problem-solving and hands-on learning, however the HETV Skills Fund is open to a range of delivery options.
Diversity and inclusion aims
In addition to the requirements above, the programme must follow ScreenSkills’ HETV diversity aims:
- 50% Woman
- 20% Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority
- 10% Disabled
- 10% LGBTQ+
We also expect 100% of participants to be based in Northern Ireland.
ScreenSkills aims to go beyond legal diversity requirements and considers additional measures of inclusivity, including:
- employment status
- whether a person is returning to work following leave
- geographical location (including representation of nations and regions)
- socio-economic background.
Providing access to diverse crew and talent is key to our delivery objectives. All training providers and companies delivering programmes that are funded by the High-end TV Skills Fund must meet the identified diversity aims and will need to demonstrate how they plan to reach these at the start-up meeting. If a provider is struggling to meet their diversity and inclusion goals during recruitment, this must be communicated in writing in order to agree to any revision. If aims have not been achieved at the end of the programme, the project is at risk of loss of funding.
ScreenSkills will need to sign off the participant cohort before places are allocated.
We require all Skills Fund-funded programme participants to set up a ScreenSkills profile via our website which allows us to gather data and track beneficiaries.
It is the trainer’s responsibility to ensure that all participants complete their profile and diversity data before the training begins.
Who can apply?
We are welcoming applications from training providers and organisations who have a proven track record of delivering successful industry standard training projects.
The provider will need to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of high-end TV training requirements, including the diversity challenges facing the industry and must clearly demonstrate that they have the resources to track the career progression of participants beyond the life of the programme.
ScreenSkills particularly welcomes applications from providers based in Northern Ireland including partnerships between organisations and/or in partnership with freelancers who have had a career in HETV Production Management in Northern Ireland who could deliver some elements of the training.
Training providers must:
- demonstrate evidence of appropriate, recent engagement with the industry in the design and delivery of the programme.
- meet critical diversity aims as outlined in this tender, including:
- making reasonable adjustments to the training (whether face-to-face, content or online) to ensure that it is accessible to a diverse audience,
- having an equality policy in place as an employer,
- having a monitoring system in place to track the diversity of the delegates, see this guide,
- providing diversity and inclusivity training to facilitators – (see free ACAS online training),
- ensure that the delegates complete the ScreenSkills end of initiative survey at the end of the training.
- develop a clear structure for the training, ensuring that it is outcome focused.
- discuss and agree with those taking part in the programme that they will provide feedback on the training if requested which could include providing ScreenSkills with a quote on their experience on the training.
How to apply
At this stage we are requesting an expression of interest. Training providers and organisations will be asked to provide a one-page document outlining the key aspects of the delivery plan, how the key requirements of the programme will be met, information about the company and the providers capacity to deliver the programme.
We are looking for bids up to £20k which includes, marketing/recruitment, delivery, management and training costs.
Bids that can demonstrate funding match to maximise the budget will be welcome.
