This week long course covers knotting, tonging, dressing, trimming and the application of facial hair. Students learn how to knot a piece of facial hair and how to dress and tong moustaches, beards and sideburns. Included in this week is also laying on hair, a technique that can be used in combination with a facial hair piece or with an actors natural facial hair. The techniques learnt in this course really help further the skillset of a make-up artist who can work more efficiently in a fast paced filming environment, or save money by making their own facial hair pieces rather than hiring from specialist suppliers.
Make-up artists working on set within TV, film or theatre. Knowledge of character make-up is advantageous, but not essential.
