VFX is an important and expanding part of the UK's screen industries. There is continuing demand for specialists, such as compositors and technical directors, but also a need for business skills, such as pitching, management and sales.

There is a strong need for people with a mix of creative and STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) skills.

The VFX workforce consists of 33% from the European Economic Area (EEA), 13% non-EEA and 53% UK or Irish citizens. (Animation also employs a high proportion of European workers.)

Developments in immersive tech, such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), are already beginning to transform the screen sectors.
