The UK games industry

ScreenSkills recognises that many of the challenges facing the screen industries, including the need to diversify the workforce and to create a skills pipeline, also apply to games.

Only 19% of the games workforce is female and only 4% from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. But the sector is booming with more than 2,000 video game companies in the UK and major centres outside London including Birmingham and Cardiff.

How ScreenSkills works with the games industry

Senior games industry figures sit on the Games Skills Council and provide leadership and guidance to direct investment into the priority skills training requirements of the UK games industry.
