Canadian-born actor and singer Simon Gfeller first studied acting at École Supérieure de Théâtre in Montréal and furthered his vocal training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London) under tenor Adrian Thompson.
Recent operatic engagements include Pete Peterson for English Touring Opera, which won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera in 2014.
Other recent roles include Second Priest in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte also for English Touring Opera, Sixth Servant Capriccio (Royal Opera House), four servants Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Opera Project), Billy Mahagonny-Songspiel (London Philharmonic Orchestra), Pastore Orfeo (Silent Opera) and Man in Arm Die Zauberflöte (Opéra de Montréal). Other roles include Man in Arm Die Zauberflöte, Ringmaster and Vasek (The Bartered Bride), Billy in John Estacio's Lillian Alling, Alfred (Die Fledermaus), El Remendado (Carmen), Prince Paul (La Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein) and Don Pedro (La Périchole).
Also a trained actor, Simon worked extensively in theatre for most of his early career whilst based in Canada. Amongst several productions, he has played "Timms" in Alan Bennett's renowned play History Boys performed in French at the Théâtre Jean-Duceppe in Canada.
On screen, he has appeared in the American series Accident Investigators for Discovery USA. He also recently played the role of "Guillaume" in the movie Laurentie that was awarded Best International Feature prize at the Raindance Film Festival in 2012. He has also starred in TV commercials in both French and English speaking Canada. Recently, Simon has also appeared for the first time in German in the role of Florestan in Die Schumann Sonate presented both at the TAK Theater Liechtenstein and at the STOK Theater Zürich to critical acclaim.
Simon is also a voice teacher both for the sung and spoken voice.
