If you knew me in 2009 you would have seen me attending as many concerts or festivals as possible. I was that one fan who would arrive early just to see the construction of the stage, the location of merchandise booths, basically the overall layout of the event. I would talk to everyone from the merch table guy to the artists’ manager. I was still unsure of what I wanted to do exactly, but I did know it had to involve music.

I have interned and volunteered in as many musically related events as possible, from managing Social Media accounts for artists at Atom Factory Inc. to Artist Relations at Sony Music. Interning at these amazing companies, volunteering for different events, and continuing my frequent concert attendances led me to wanting to connect more with the artist and the fans. Taking on the position as Event Coordinator for my schools Residential Life gave me the drive of bringing others ideas to life. Making ideas that seem impossible, possible. Creating excitement and enjoyment for those in attendance and those who are apart of the event.

It is now 2015 and I have graduated. When I am asked, ‘What are you doing next ?’ my response is Event Production/Coordination. I see myself sitting in an office meeting with like minded and creative people discussing the next theme for Coachella or the Squamish Valley Music Festival in Vancouver. I see the theme being something quirky or outrageous as Harry Potter and ideas popping in my head on how to make it happen. I than see myself two weeks before the festival or concert overseeing the idea coming to life and finally the opening day, where the fans and artist are astounded at what they are seeing. I want that feeling and I know this is something I would actually enjoy; the countless hours of no sleep, the stress of everything going wrong then right, as well as the extreme attention to detail that is needed. It may seem crazy, but I would wake up smiling each day doing something I love!
