Rob grew up in South London and studied drum kit, percussion, and digital composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
He runs, plays in, arranges, and writes for his band Stompy's Playground- a 12 piece ensemble that rework electronic music live using a unique combinaton of orchestral instruments.
Stompy’s Playground have had support from BBC Radio 1, 2, and 3, FACT Magazine, Stamp The Wax, Sound & Music, and a vinyl release on Berlin’s Project Mooncircle. They’ve performed gigs at Bestival, Boomtown Fair, Shambala, London’s Southbank Centre, Sofar Sounds, Union Chapel, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.
They have worked alongside London Contemporary Voices in a collaborative project which saw over 40 performers record live interpretations and original music. They were privileged to be able to reinterpret Goldie's iconic drum and bass track 'Inner City Life' alongside Diane Charlemagne, the original vocalist and Goldie's co-writer.
Rob has arranged, orchestrated, and recorded for high profile artists including Lighthouse Family and James Arthur. The latter resulted in a no.1 album in the 2016-2017 UK charts. The single ‘Say You Won’t let Go’ reached no.1 in the UK, Europe, and Itunes charts.
He also co-runs and plays with More Is More; a 4-piece street band comprising of a custom portable drum kit and 3 horns playing fierce and heavy improvised grooves.
He is one half of the Mullaha Live show- explosive electronic dance music, and also plays in Talk In Colour. They create a groundbreaking combination of electronica, post-dubstep, jazz, folk and indie with live instruments and dirty basslines - "experts with a deft touch who know what they’re doing.” Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music.
Rob also teaches and works as a session musician with various artists and ensembles.
