Drew Taylor

Playwright / Director

  • Location: Suffolk, Glasgow, London
  • Career stage: Early
  • Freelancer: Available

I am a theatre maker based in Glasgow.

I create bold aesthetics, black comedy, overtly political dialogue and warm inviting spaces.

I usually direct theatre... and I often do something else alongside this: writing, designing, producing or choreographing.

I create work with professional performers or with young people, with outreach groups, with education groups or with actors/dancers in training.

Big credits include: National Theatre, Barbican, Criterion theatres -  London, theaterszene Europa festival Cologne, Traverse Theatre Edinburgh, The Arches Glasgow and commissions for the Brighton International Festival and Commonwealth Games Cultural Festival Glasgow

Little credits include: Bettyhill community hall - the Highlands, Iona Primary School, the streets of 'Derry, Govanhill Baths Glasgow and my living room.

I am currently writing 2 new plays with Playwright's Studio Scotland with their New Playwright's Award and I am being mentored by David Greig and Lynda Radley.

I am currently creating a verbatim theatre event with young people in association with LGBT Youth Scotland.
