Steven Holmes

Steven Holmes has written for a number of local and regional arts based publications, most notably in the last issue of Nom de Strip – A journal of arts and culture in South West England. His writings on the exhibition Reflecting the Rural bring a nuanced understanding to the transitional cultural identity of Cornish life as seen through retrospect in the work of photographer James Ravilious, and the recent Anthology of Rural Life by photographers Oliver Udy and Colin Robins.
As a graduate with honours from Plymouth University he has been fortunate to study under the tuition of established practitioners such as Photographer Jem Southam and Writer/Curator David Chandler. Looking now to build the foundation of his own practice and move into curatorial practice Steven maintains deeply focused on challenging how we interact with art and how art is a tool to help us understand ourself and the often problematic yet intriguing universal experiences of our modern lives.

Having just returned from living abroad in British Colombia - Steven, for the meantime, updates and runs a continual dialogue of his personal practice on a number of social media platforms such as Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram as a way of staying connected to the wider art community.
