I am currently in the process of embarking upon a career change, back into the Film Industry.
I have previous experience making my own work, both whilst studying BA Fine Art, and outside of those studies. During that time, I developed a rounded base of skills including writing, directing, shooting, editing and production design skills, which I believe will serve as a good foundation for further development in my pursuit to find work in the film industry, most specifically within the Productions Management Department as Assistant Director.
I have spent the past 7 years running a successful wine business, which has involved people management skills, HR, event planning and management, graphic design, website design and management, designing new shops/bars including the technical drawings and plans, liaising with contractors and managing the builds. Working on these larger building projects has helped me remember just how much I love the creative and practical aspect of realising a vision by collaborating with others, managing every step of the process and problem solving. I feel that my experience co-ordinating a number of people who specialise in different disciplines, toward a successful end result efficiently, and taking the time to fully understand the part that each person has to play in realising the vision, will hopefully stand me in good stead in my ambition to work towards my dream job working in the film industry as an AD!
Over the past year or so, I have been volunteering as a Production Assistant on short films and video shoots in a bid to gain as much experience as I can. I welcome anyone who can offer me some experience on set to get in touch!
