Paula grew up in Manor Park, East London. She has written for theatres & companies around the UK.
She’s been a writer on attachment (National Theatre Studio), writer in residence (Soho Theatre) part of the Drama Room at BBC Writersroom (2016-17) and on the BBC New Talent hotlist. Paula is a former winner of the Alfred Fagon Award (What’s Lost published by Samuel French/ Concord Theatricals) and her play Four Decades was a finalist for the 2021 Women’s Prize for Playwriting. She most recently co-wrote Messiah with Jesse Briton, on the legacy of Black Panther activist Fred Hampton, (Bear Trap/ Holm) and Night Shift a peep into the lives of night time workers, for multi award winning company Zoo Co Theatre. She is part of the writers room at Stockroom Productions.
Paula is also working on screen ideas with director Makalla Macpherson and writer Mandy Redvers-Rowe. She was part of Screen Yorkshire’s 2022 Flex Agile Storytelling Talent Lab and is a BAFTA Connect member. She is the recipient of the 2023 Roland Rees Bursary.
