Claudia Kerr

  • Location: London
  • Career stage: Entry
  • Freelancer: Available

Having recently graduated from Chelsea College of Art UAL, BA Textile Design, Claudia is now working within a second-hand designer clothes shop doing small repairs and alterations and working in-store. Also she has recently started an online profile for freelance alteration and vintage clothing repairs.

Enjoying the freedom of expressing textiles in many forms on her degree, she has learnt skills in technical sewing, knitting, weave, embroidery, ceramics and metalwork. Different projects lead down to costume design and construction, leading creative public workshops and a collaborative conceptual fashion catwalk show. For her final degree show she created an environment built up of metal and fabric prop sculptures to express a feeling of anxiety after going through a personal time dealing with mental health.

Claudia is inspired by art history and political and social developments within society expecially that of classism and sexism. Visually she is encapsulted with historic references, fine detail to shape, surface pattern and colour within costume, editing and styling. Passionate about pursuing a career in costume, she has undergone work experience in the upcoming Marvel DC feature film in 2019 and The National Theatre's productions of 'Antony and Cleopatra' and 'Macbeth' of 2018.
