John has worked within the film and television industries for over thirty five years as an editor, producer and director.

Nominated 3 times for BAFTA awards, including Clocking Off and Queer as Folk, he won a BAFTA for his sound editing work on Jimmy McGovern's drama documentary Hillsborough.

For the past 8 years he has worked as the Northern Learning Organiser for BECTU, the media and entertainment trade union, offering advice, guidance and arranging training for members and potential members in the north of England.
This role is currently part-time hence John contines to produce low budget documentaries and other videos as Creative Director for his company kbs productions.
