Matthew is a freelance theatre director and filmmaker. He has worked for, among others, the Royal Shakespeare Company, English Touring Theatre and Shakespeare's Globe.

As Director The Babysitters, Henry V, Jerusalem, The Glass Menagerie, Macbeth, A Streetcar Named Desire, Twelfth Night, Oh! What a Lovely War (Thrust Stage) and Romeo and Juliet (Castle Theatre Company).

As Assistant/Associate Director Tamburlaine, Timon of Athens, Twelfth Night (Royal Shakespeare Company), Nell Gwynn (Shakespeare's Globe/West End/UK Tour), Travels With My Aunt (Chichester Festival Theatre) and While The Sun Shines (Theatre Royal Bath).

Matthew trained at LAMDA and read English Literature at Durham University.
