About
My name is Tomasz Aleksander and I’m a self taught writer/director who has crossed over from acting. In 2012 I was chosen for two different film courses - The Northern Business Incubator Summer School (An intensive and immersive week of workshops and talks by industry professionals) and Filmworks (A scheme for filmmakers to develop a network of regional film talent. The scheme offered an opportunity for both producers and directors to expand their creative, and commercial potential through an intensive three month programme of masterclasses, workshops and mentoring).
In 2014 I was selected for the Directors Guild of Great Britain’s Tools of Directing course (A full week of training, mentoring and networking focusing on developing participants’ tools of directing actors, casting, script development and directing the camera). I was also part of Creative England’s Sheffield Talent Centre on the Making the Leap course (A programme designed to equip emerging filmmakers to make their first fiction feature).
To date I have written and directed 3 short films with the first two being very much a learning curve/experience. I then put all those lessons into creating a third short film which I wrote/directed/produced called Gone Wrong.
For the fourth short film I directed, I collaborated with a writer and producer on Creative England’s iShorts where we made the final 20 teams out of over 340+ entries and were awarded a budget of £5,000 to make our short film The Devil’s In The Detail which came in on budget and on time.
I'm now working on my fifth and final short film which I plan to shoot in the summer of 2017 which will be my most ambitious project yet.
