About
Ali is an Edinburgh based sound designer and composer for film and stage, audio editor and producer, live and studio drummer.
Recent work includes sound design and post production sound for Oscar nominated and multi award winning documentary “Karama Has No Walls” from director Sara Ishaq, Mark Cousins’ features including " Stockholm My Love", "I Am Belfast", "A Story of Children and Film" and “What Is This Film Called Love?”, internationally televised documentary “Finding Josephine” (Tomás Sheridan, Polifilm), Robbie Fraser's documentary "Pictures from Afghanistan", and won Best Sound Design for Magnus Wake's thriller "Dark Sense". He lectures at the Edinburgh College of Art and New College Lanarkshire, and has taught at BFI Film Academies in Macau, Glasgow and Dundee, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Glasgow University, and a number of youth film-making festivals and courses.

He is also deft at fixing broken things. His interests include sharks, skiing and curry.
