About

My name is Cerys Davies and I am a recent graduate of Robert Gordon University and have been selected to complete a masters programme in Film, Visual Culture and Arts management in the September 2021 graduating in the Spetember of 2022. I graduated with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Applied Social Sciences with a particular focus on sociology with special interests in Media, Fashion, Art and Feminism in the June of 2020.

Throughout my Masters programme I have undertaken Modules in:

Research in Film and TV (A), Museums in the Digital World (B), Projects in Film and TV (TBC), Public Enagement with The Arts (TBC) and Work-Based Dissertation (TBC).

I am interested in Radio and TV Production as a career. I participated in a number of media based societies at my time in RGU including the Student Magazine and Student Radio. As a lifestyle and entertainment writer as well as a producer respectively.

I have past experiences with radio production through my schools radio station and have used both a light box and sound box through a number of our school productions including fashion shows and Christmas events.

Including my practical experiences I have completed varying degree modules in New Media including semiotics & advertising, representation & ideology, Film Theory & Video Practice for New Media, the course has enabled me to gain an insight into the world of Film and TV Production. I also spent a day at Moray Firth Radio learning practical skills within the radio room through a one day short course. Although I have no previous work experience within the field my time at school has introduced me to radio production and backstage work with microphones and lighting. Although the school is limited we have professional standard sound desks and light boxes even though this is not directly linked to Film, TV and Radio Production I believe that it could be relevant to any positions I apply for.

Like I said I do not have any previous work experience but I am knowledgeable about the industry. For my Advanced Higher Geography course I had to conduct a research project of my choice. I chose to do the socio-economic impacts of the film and TV industry in Scotland, this highlights my research skills and interest within the industry.

Although I lack in practical experiences within the world of media production I am keen to learn and would love to be given the opportunity to do that.
