Rosie is a recent Photography BA Graduate from Southampton Solent University.
Rosie's photographic practice focuses primarily on representations of the landscape, which frequently involves exploring places in her immediate environment. Experimenting with the everyday especially inside and outside the house and places close by to challenge the way we see familiar objects that we would usually pass by without noticing.
In terms of landscape photography Rosie likes to produce the ‘ideal’ and the ‘picturesque’ but at the same time, change the viewer’s perspective and create work that promotes thought and reflection as well as Ideas around human existence within the natural landscape with her own personal existence and interaction with nature.
Nature has for a while been a big influence in the way she works and as a landscape and nature photographer; she has always thought of the importance of letting the natural environment act as a guide to creating the image. During her time studying, Rosie has also learned that the camera is an extremely useful tool as well as light which both help to see new and interesting views and interpretations of common objects and places.
As a photographer she feels as though her photography is a tool for creating art, a subject that needs exploring, not just a photograph. Photographs are used for memories, documentations, snapshots or commercial; which is equally important but has different uses and purposes in the world.
