Educationist, actor, director, dramaturg, translator and everything in between

Andrade is a trained actor and performer with credits in film, TV and stage in Brazil and in the UK. He holds an MA in Making Plays: Writing and Devising for the Stage by Kingston University (2011), a Diploma in Screenwriting by the London Film Academy (2012). He is currently working on his PhD thesis at King's College entitled: 'Brazilianism: Translation and Adaptation of Contemporary Brazilian Drama through Devised Performance'.
More recently, he was an actor in Catherine Boyle’s translation of Sor Juana’s House of Desire at the Greenwood Theatre (2014) and at the Bots&Barrals and StoneCrabs co-production of Skin in Flames at the Park Theatre (2015).
He directed the pilot for the Regine Mont- Louis " The Kinda Late Show" at Riverside Studios for BBC3 Newcomers programme (2009), directed and produced the devised performance of Five Twosomes for the IYAF at The Rose Theatre Kingston (2010). His script Pinky Promise reached the top three at the Nivea Moments of Closeness Competition (2011). He became an Artistic Associate and Trustee at StoneCrabs Theatre Company in 2014, developing workshops for their Young Directors Programme and working as dramaturg and assistant director for their Manchester Fringe R&D project Tieta.
Besides his academic work, Andrade collaborates with the Dirty Movies project coordinated by Victor Fraga, with the OffCine project created by Brazilian Film Critic Christian Pertermann and has worked as a writer/editor/translator for the MixBrasil Film Festival between 2006 and 2008.
Andrade has a taste for Brazilian soap operas, dysfunctional families and cybernetic punk-drag dramas. He wants to see beyond 50 shades of grey on stage and at the silver screen, including the pretty, the kinky and the downright nasty tones.
