I live to write, I write to explore, I explore to learn, I learn to teach, I teach to love, I love to write, I write to live, I live to write… and so the cycle goes!
As a writer and story consultant, I can say it's been a pleasure to have written a variety of stage, screen and online scripts, page and performance poetry, articles, blogs and essays throughout my career. Work has been commissioned by Manchester’s Contact Theatre and the BBC. I was also a member of the Royal Court Theatre Young Writers’ Programme.
In 2009, I left Manchester and returned to London as a writer and researcher for a British Youth Council documentary, which was aired at the BFI and BAFTAs. Simultaneous to the documentary-making pursuits, my stage play ‘Toro and the Storm’ was commissioned by Kori Arts Youth Charity, who used the script for educational forum theatre projects that were successful in Tanzania, China and the UK. Subsequently, I joined the Southbank Centre’s marketing department and became acquainted with their resident youth group, SE1 United and was involved in a range of writing programmes and led creative workshops. I am a writer in residence for the Beddow andBattini art collective — an interdisciplinary London-based group. We have been awarded a variety of commissions for art exhibitions in London and Russia.
In 2016, completed a Masters in Critical Arts Management, and am using this academic experience to realise my long-term freelancing passion, Scribble Ink Story Consultancy—a social enterprise dedicated to mentoring writers throughout their creative process (w:scribbleink.com).
I have a deep and abiding interest in the fusion of creativity and new media. In fact, it's safe to say I am an avid short story writer who sees the web series format as the millennial answer to ‘punk culture.’
