My poetry has appeared in magazines such as The Rialto, Magma, The Boston Review, Prole, The SHOp and The Interpreters House, as well as the anthologies Ten Hallam Poets (Mews Press) and Poems from the City Imagined (Smith/Doorstop). My debut pamphlet 'Ripening Dark' was published May 2015, as part of the Eyewear 20/20 series. My first full collection is forthcoming from Eyewear. I have a PhD on the Browningesque dramatic monologue and work as an Associate Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.

'Shelley Roche-Jacques’ sensuous dramatic monologues are not mere ventriloquism but highly original events of the imagination. Her compellingly inhabited voices speak with immediacy and verve and with a humorous nod to contemporary sensibilities. Formally adept and characterised by a sprightly wit, these are poems as comfortable with bombazine and billets-doux as they are with IKEA and central heating – poems that revel in the possibilities of language and that revivify our sense of the past.'
