Amy Gilmartin is a freelance director and assistant director, currently based in Glasgow and making work across Scotland.
Most recently Amy is the Leverhulme Arts Scholar and Recipent of the JMK Regional Assistant Director bursary at the Traverse Theatre. Assisting Orla O'Loughlin on Milk by Ross Dunsmore, performed as part of the Traverse Theatre Festival Programme during August 2016.
Amy studied Drama and Theatre Arts at Queen Margaret University, specialising in directing. She is the founder and Co-Artistic Director of Urban Fox Theatre, directing and producing Globophobia (Fringe 2013 and autumn remount), Safeword (Fringe 2014 and as part of Hothouse at the Traverse Theatre) and Heartlands (Fringe 2015, Hometown Tour, as part of Hothouse at the Traverse Theatre and #Festival45 at the Kings Head Theatre), as well as many events for Theatre Uncut in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Her work as a freelance director includes Kiss Cuddle Torture and Warrior, as well as a new adaptation of Miss Julie, produced by Black Dingo Productions. She is currently a member of the Tron 100 and the Traverse Theatre’s Director Group.
