Freelance Theatre Director

  • Location: London
  • Freelancer: Available

I am a freelance director, performer and writer, based in London but active all over the country and particularly in the midlands.

I begun my career with successful devised theatre company Idle Motion (New Diorama and Oxford Playhouse Associate Artists) creating new work based on little known historical figures fused with innovative staging and multimedia technology. Together we were fortunate enough to take our productions all over the world with the British Council as well as regularly touring the UK circuit. After five productions, hundreds of performances and many tours I decided to focus solely on directing and writing and so enrolled on the Birkbeck MFA in theatre directing and was a resident director at the Birmingham REP.

As a director I have assisted on several productions, directed five of my own and was Associate Director for the REP and Touring Consortium's number one tour of 'Of Mice and Men'. I am currently working with Nick Walker on continuing our series of responsive news shows called 'Sheriff' which I direct, and I am developing a new play about food security with academics at the Oxford Martin Future of Food programme.
