Tom is a freelance writer whose work spans theatre and poetry, creative non-fiction and journalism. Recent plays include 'Coastal Defences' (Brewery Theatre, Bristol, 2014), '100 Miles North of Timbuktu' (Alma Tavern Theatre, Bristol, 2013) and 'Deeds Not Words' (Ship & Castle, Bristol, 2013). His poetry has been published in a wide range of magazines, anthologies, chapbooks and the full-length collection 'Recreation Ground' (Two Rivers Press, 2012). He has a PhD in creative writing from the University of Reading for which he specialised in travel narrative.

Tom also works with writers and artists in SE Europe via the Culture Exchange Experiment network, which encourages translation, collaboration and cultural exchange. He translates poetry from Bulgarian and co-runs Colourful Star, an online Anglo-Bulgarian art/text project. His own work has been translated into Albanian and two of his children's stories have been published as multimedia apps by X-ovation Bulgaria.

Tom is a former editor of Venue magazine and has taught creative writing at Bath Spa University and the University of Reading.
