About

Avril is an international award-winning director whose innovative, compelling dramas capture complex stories.

Attached as director on a young adult, dystopian TV series adaptation. Named Emerging BAME BRITISH FILMMAKER TO WATCH by Shadow and Act. Participant of the competitive BAFTA/BFI Crew 2020/21.

An alumni of the Berlinale Talent Campus, her drama debut, LIPSERVICE won BEST short at the Images of Black Women Film Festival.  The Arts Council / Barbican and Eastenders:E20 commissioned her to write and direct short films.

Plus, Film London supported short PLAYGROUND and ZDF/Arte funded FAMOUS LAST WORDS both launched at prestigious film festivals including The London Film Festival and Berlinale.

Avril's experience also encompasses branding and digital media, including campaigns for BBC, ITV, Discovery and UKTV. Top industry awards followed for CBeebies Boogie Beebies - Promax Award, US, CBBC ‘Beats’ campaign - European Business Award for Innovation, Antiques Roadshow - Promax Award UK. 

She was selected for the Rare with Google Leadership Accelerator Lab 2020.  Runner up from 1,000 applicants for the annual M&C Saatchi Open House Pitch 2020.  

Currently she's freelancing remotely for TV broadcasters.
