About
Hi I'm Laura - I am a very cheery, motivated and hardworking freelance Wardrobe Assistant based in the Midlands. I have been freelancing ever since finishing my degree from Nottingham Trent University in Costume Design and Making in 2016.
Here I acquired skills such as:
Pattern Cutting
Garment Construction
Prop Making
Historical period clothing knowledge
Breaking down
Dying
Designing
I have been fortunate enough to work on many theatres shows these last few years. Most recently in Liverpool Empire Theatre on their shows Fame the Musical! and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Here I was collaborating with the Designer to make and source costumes for casts of over 60. I have learnt alot in theatre including how to work under pressure (and yet remain calm and happy!), how to undertake fittings and how you need to be adaptable and flexible at all times. I love learning new skills and have been able to be a dresser and prop/ puppet maker on productions too.
Although I love working in theatre, I'm now very keen to expand into the Television and Film industry and so am applying for Costume Trainee positions. For this I am willing to travel. I have a full, clean driving license and a car of my own.
I would love to hear from you.
