I am a dance artist living and working in Cork, Ireland. I am passionate about developing and promoting dance in my home city. I do this through my work as a performer, a maker and a teacher at community and professional level.
My main focus in the past few months has been to encourage more boys to dance. As an associate artist of Cork's Dancer in Residence at Firkin Crane, I led a community dance project for 9-11 yr old boys called Super Moves. I collaborated with the eight participants to create a new dance piece with music by local composer JJ Riordan. This vibrant and enthusastic group of boys were amazing to work with and I hope to keep them dancing into the future.
As a performer I have worked with choreographers from Ireland, Germany, UK and the US. I particularly enjoy performing in an integrated setting with Croi Glan Integrated Dance Company (IRL).
Since graduating from Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2011 I have continued to develop professionally through workshops with Helen Poynor, Jess Curtis, Claudia Dias, Dani Brown, Tove Sahlin, Rosemary Butcher and Wendy Houstoun amongst others.
I love collaboration and nourish my investigation into the relationship between different art forms by working with composers, visual artists, film makers and poets within my own practice.
I have a particular interest in the environment and our natural habitats. I recently began to work in An Gaorthadh, one of only four inland river deltas in the world, which was flooded in the 1950’s. I worked with writer and artist Laura Burns in the marshy edges of an island delving into ritual and physical bodily engagement with place.
I am always open to new encounters so feel free to get in touch!
