  • Career stage: Early

I am a Sheffield born, LAMDA trained actor turned playwright. I am currently the Associate Writer for Anonymous Is A Woman Theatre Company, working closely with them to develop excellent new work specifically for rural touring.

My current projects are:

It Is Now - a rural touring comission from Anonymous is a Woman Theatre Company set for full scale production in 2018

Dead Leg - a new piece in development. An extract was first shown at Fine Mess Theatre's Bites and Scratches in 2016.

Ladykiller- A collaboration with The Thelmas. Extracts have been performed as part of the Camden Fringe and other scratch nights.

"All I am going to say is that Madeline has written a truly awesome script and Hannah performed one of the finest pieces of acting I have ever seen – and going by the shocked reaction of the audience around me, I wasn’t the only one to think that way" -

"The standout piece was Madeline Gould’s Ladykiller performed by an alternatively credibly weepy then scarily psychotic Hannah McClean, her performance of this bravado character had the audience in stitches." - 17 Percent

"It was Madeline Gould’s Ladykiller that won the night for me, making me laugh out loud on several occasions with its deftly dark humour and some deliciously deadpan delivery from Hannah McClean, riffing on and actually exploiting what society might expect from someone it sees as a victim - thought-provoking stuff." - There Ought to be Clowns

Past Work includes:

Think OF England - a rural touring comission by Anonymous is a Woman. A full scale production was mounted in 2016. Another full scale tour is set for 2018.

Boxer, Beetle - an adaptation of Ned Beauman's award-winning novel, comissioned by Local Girl Productions. Featured in Rich Mix's Small Story/ Big City project in 2015.

The Princeless Princess and the Princessless Prince - a new play for young people, comissioned by Local Girl Productions and performed at the Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch in 2015
