About
Eduardo is a passionate and dedicated London based creative in the theatre and film industries. He’s been mainly working in the theatre in UK. He’s now taking his first steps into film.
He has a Masters in Screenwriting at UAL (1st Class Honours), a BA (Hons) in Film Practice (majored in Screenwriting) also at UAL, and studied for a Masters in Screenwriting at the London Film School (Terms 1 and 2).
Eduardo’s short film PASTRY enjoyed a successful run in the international film festival circuit, found a worldwide film distributor, and Eurochannel has televised it all over the world – they acquired the rights for a non-exclusive deal, for 2 years, to be aired on pay cable TV, pay satellite and pay mobile television. PASTRY and Eduardo’s very first short - TWO BROTHERS - shot in 2014, are featured in the British Film Council Directory. PASTRY has been Official Selection of twenty film festivals all over the world; and TWO BROTHERS got a generous note from Tessa Ross, former Head of Film at Channel 4 and considered by many ‘The Mother’ of the British Film Industry: “It’s a beautiful, distinctive piece of work and you tell your story in an intriguing and intimate way. I'm sure the team would be interested to see what you make next, and how your filmmaking develops as you explore a bigger world and continue to grow the contexts for your stories “
He directed the Operas RUTH and THE DARK LADY OF THE SONNETS by composer Philip Hagemann for Pegasus Opera Company; the musical TOMORROW MORNING by Laurence Mark-Wythe at Lisbon's Casino; two plays by Jean Cocteau, THE HUMAN VOICE and THE SOUND OF SILENCE (Trafalgar Studios, West End); Christopher Hampton's DANGEROUS LIAISONS (Teatro da Trindade, Lisbon's West End); Tennessee Williams’ SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER (Teatro Maria Matos, Lisbon's West End); Jorge Guimarães' ALL FOR NOTHING (Menier Chocolate Factory); Patrick Hamilton's ROPE (Riverside Studios); Luís Domingues adaptation of THE CRIME OF FATHER AMARO (Greenwich); Luís Assis' PEEP SHOW (Greenwich); Luísa Costa Gomes' NEVER NOTHING FROM NO ONE (Cockpit); L.A. Green's MARCHING (Tristan Bates Theatre) and Adam Szymcowicz’s NERVE (Baron’s Court).
For five years, Eduardo developed a number of projects for the West End under a first refusal contract with the Ambassador Theatre Group (contract expired 28th August 2009) and then with Act Productions in 2010/2011
Eduardo was the director of Requiem Productions, whose patrons were the actors Susannah York and Alan Bates.
He has work-shopped newly commissioned plays with actors such as: Meera Syal, Juliet Stevenson, Martina Laird, Rosamund Pike, Vincent Ebrahim, Tom Burke, Tamsin Greig, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Jamie Parker and Laurence Fox, amongst others.
Key achievement:
- ATLANTIC WAVES (1st edition November 2001), produced the inaugural Portuguese Music Festival in London bringing 40 musicians from abroad to play at venues such as Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Ocean, etc. - musicians such as Misia, Chris Cutler, Tom Chant, Lula Pena, The Wallace Collection, Chilingirian Quartet and many others – a total of 16 sell-out concerts throughout the month of November. The Festival then became an annual event and integrated in the London Jazz Festival (last edition was in 2008, due to cut on funds from the Portuguese Government and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation)
