Playwright, Writer, Librettist

  • Location: London
  • Career stage: Experienced
  • Freelancer: Available Soon

I am a playwright, director, and librettist based in Reykjavík and London (I go back and forth.)

Mini manifesto: To be scared but not terrified. To be in unfamiliar circumstances holding a lamp and mirror. To find myself in others and the truth in the lie. To write from the gut, the heart, and the senses.

Member of the writers union of Iceland.

I've worked in theatre and opera and am currently doing my masters in creative writing at the University of Iceland.

Some of the work I've done:

Vagina Dialogues with the Völvas - Highest selling show at Upper East church at Summerhall, Edinburgh Fringe 2017

★★★★★ The Norwich Radical
★★★★⋆ The Panoptic
★★★★ A Younger Theatre

Top of the list: Feminist top picks for Edinburgh Fringe at the Norwich Radical.

"Later I was left thinking ‘What next from The Völvas? Religion? Politics? Metaphysics?’ The world is theirs for the taking. Brave work" - Fringe Review, Roy Hutchins

#ECHOCHAMBER - Folk Opera Iceland, the Icelandic Opera, and Aequitas Collective. Opening in 2018.

Funded by Arts Council England and RANNÍS (Icelandic government funding.) The group received the biggest fund given out that year by the Ministry of Culture in Iceland.

The opera is part verbatim, using text taken directly from Twitter and interivews with women who have been shamed and harrassed online. The show makes use of a live twitter feed where the audience tweets directly into the show.

As well as verbatim, the show uses text from Jon Ronson, both his Ted Talk and book So You've been Publicly Shamed, with the authors permission.

Working with composer Michael Betteridge.

"Turning ugliness into beauty" - Gunnþóra Gunnarsdóttir, Visir

"An opera of a new kind" - Benedikt Bóas, Visir
