About
Since graduating in film production (2:1) from the University for the Creative Arts (Farnham) I have been earning my keep from freelance editing work and filmmaking commissions.
Earlier in 2016 I took part in the Creative Scotland and Film City Futures backed initiative JUMPCUT. Over a three week post-production period I was mentored closely by industry editors Colin Monie (The Magdalene Sisters) and Ben McKinstrie (Eve, Outlander) at Serious Facilities' post-house in Film City Glasgow whilst collaborating with director Adrian Mead (M.I. HIGH) on the edit of the short.
In 2015 I edited a short documentary funded by Creative England and the BFI, which went on to screen at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival 2016. I also edited a short drama funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, as well as writing and directing a short film commissioned by BOZAR: Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium.
Over the summer of 2011 I gained a 4-month internship with director Joe Wright (Atonement) shadowing and assisting him through the pre-production stages and initial shoot of his 2012 feature film Anna Karenina. Over the course of these months I was able to closely observe and learn about the mammoth processes of creating, designing and communicating a story from the writer's pen to the final image projected to the audience.
I spent a lot of the time travelling whilst growing up. Through one country into another, to theatres and festivals then all the way back to the UK again. From 5 weeks old to 15 years old I grew up watching, filming and helping out on my parents puppet shows as we toured with their theatre company Faulty Optic. I'd strike sets with crew, light stages with technicians and come across dozens of stories from brilliant and bizarre characters all over Europe.
I am also fully trained to perform as an adult-sized Silverback Gorilla within a family as big as 5. This has taken me to places such as Kuwait, Glastonbury, Mykonos, The Henley Festival and even Bolton High Street, where I encountered many more strange characters...
