About
I was born in Madras, India and have worked in documentary, television and advertising in Mumbai for over six years. I graduated with an MA in Filmmaking (Direction) from the London Film School in March 2013.
Born to parents from very different communities in India, I have always been fascinated by questions of identity, class and religion- themes that dominate my films. My focus has been on developing strong, honest characters and tracing their journey within a realistic, yet poetic style.
My last short film ‘Oysters’ was commissioned by Film London and the BFI NET.work under their London Calling Plus scheme. I was also shortlisted for the Microwave Shakespeare India feature program in 2015. My previous short ‘Safar’ has travelled extensively to festivals having won the audience award for best short film at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and as well as in Stuttgart in 2015.
I live in London and work as a freelance 1st AD while developing two feature length films as a writer/director. I also started my own production company in 2015 called Portmanteau Pictures.
