About
I am a freelance director, assistant director and dramaturg. My passion and focus is in new writing and the development of new and emerging writers.
This autumn, I will be directing The Acedian Pirates at Theatre503, a new play by first-time writer Jay Taylor. It was shortlisted for the 503 Playwriting Award 2014, and will go into full production in October. This is a big project on a little stage.
I have worked very closely with the previous Artistic Director of Theatre503, Paul Robinson, on a number of projects, all of which have received great critical acclaim. Most recently, I was his Associate at St James Theatre, working on My Mother Said I Never Should. Prior to this I was on tour with Land of Our Fathers, again as the Associate Director.
In 2014 I was awarded a BBC PAF Fellowship, working in-house for 503. It was here that I really honed my craft and really developed my passion for nurturing new writers and working on new plays.
Prior to working in the professional sector, I was the Education and Outreach Coordinator at Harrogate Theatre, being responsible for running the youth theatre and directing youth and community shows. This was a great opportunity to really hone my craft, and gave me a great first insight into the everyday running of a theatre.
I am passionate, hard-working, dedicated, motivated, and a keen member of Stage Directors UK.
