About
I'm Adam Burak, I was born in Hungary and I used to be a child actor in Budapest before I turned to directing. I feel passion about writing as well so I staged my first full length comedy in the age of 16 and based on the fortuitous success I was commissioned by the theatre to write a new show for the following season. In 2008 I won a Surcharge with my one-act tragedy Doomed for the Rope at DrámaPálya Interntional Playwright Competition and then two years later a First Prize with a tragedy about the catholic belief in our contemporary life, entitled The Other Shape which will be in November nationally broadcasted in Romania.
I have my BA degree in Theatre Directing from the University of Arts in Tirgu Mures, Romania and I finished my studies in London in the East15 Acting School's MA Theatre Directing course with a one month scholarship in Moscow at the GITIS, Russian Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Apart from a couple of my own writings I directed Sartre and Shakespeare, Moliére and Brecht during the years, my most recent work is connected to the CoIn Theatre Company, it's a three-actors version of Hamlet which was opened in London and toured in Stratford-upon-Avon, was invited to the Alexandria International Festival (May), High Fest International Festival of Armenia (October) and will tour to Kolkata, India in November 2015.
For my greatest pleasure I will participate in Ariane Mnouchkine's intense masterclass in Oxford in September 2015 and experience the unbelievable opportunities what the community theatre work could provide.
