About
After two previous careers, one in hospitality management and another as a lead field engineer I have finally travelled full-circle back to the things I have loved since childhood. I have always had a deep love of sci-fi and fantasy, the world building and it's ability to let us explore and critique our existence in challenging ways is exciting and invaluable to a healthy society. I also love making things, and I want to be creating those very illusions that can make us suspend our reality and immerse ourselves in a story or a new world.
I've also found that the smaller industry in Scotland means that it is often necessary to be a generalist rather than a specialist, as smaller crews and budgets dictate a need for each person to perform more roles within a given department and therefore have a broader array of skills. Much of my art department experience has been on low budget shorts, as well promos and online commercials, but I was also lucky enough to work as a Junior Art Director on a six-part BBC Comedy this Summer. I also have six months SFX experience in HETV, in addition to over two years of big budget film locations experience.
