I'm a London-based theatre director, with a particular interest in developing new writing. I'm a member of the Old Vic 12, winner of the RTST Director Award 2017, and runner up of the JMK Director Award 2016.

My recent work includes directing Low Level Panic at the Orange Tree Theatre. Next year I'm directing a national tour co-produced by ETT, the Nuffield and Theatr Clwyd.

I have previously directed new work at the BAC, Bush, Finborough, Southwark, Theatre503 and Tristan Bates.

As an assistant director, I've worked with James Macdonald, Amelia Sears, Simon McBurney, Simon Godwin and Tom Daley at the Arcola, Bristol Old Vic, Complicite, Hampstead, Royal Court, Salisbury Playhouse and Theatre Royal Bath.

I have worked as a script reader for Hampstead Theatre, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and Theatre503.

I have directed three productions with Southwark Playhouse's Young Company.

★★★★ “Chelsea Walker directs this slick revival… Clare McIntyre’s play is often deliciously silly, but when the bubbles have popped, there’s a scum of residual anger that just won’t budge.” Alice Saville, Time Out

★★★★ “A beautifully realised snapshot of the relationship between the women, their rivalry, humour and mutual support… All three are spot on under Chelsea Walker’s spirited direction” Heather Neill, The Stage

★★★★ “As Chelsea Walker’s beautifully judged production goes on to show in its 80 minutes, McIntyre’s writing is witty as well as unsettling… one of the most memorable bits of theatre I’ve seen this year.” Dominic Maxwell, The Times

★★★★ “Chelsea Walker’s confident production is blessed with two cherishable performances… A triumphant evening.” Fiona Mountford, Evening Standard

“Chelsea Walker’s assured production is acted with total conviction by Anna Leong Brophy and Chris Lew Kum Hoi as the young lovers.” Michael Billington, The Guardian (****)

“Walker’s staging is slick, sinister, and deeply unsettling.” Sam Marlowe, The Times (****)

“Stinging insight into a warped reality” Fiona Mountford, Evening Standard (****)

“‘Klippies’ is a well-crafted snapshot, a delicate look at burgeoning youth and the burden of history.” Time Out (****)

Director Chelsea Walker keeps the whole thing moving, conjuring a sense of aridity, of blasted grass and sleepy, booze-laced and sunwashed afternoons” The Stage (****)

“a vibrant, incisive 75 minutes… one finely packaged and impactful bit of theatre.” The Public Reviews (****)

"If this is not proof as to why we need to continue funding new talent, I don’t know what is." A Younger Theatre
