About
My name is Hannah Stewart and I am freelance Film Editor and Makeup Artist (MUA).
At the age of 16 I joined a group called Film Fridays run by Media Education based in Dalry, Edinburgh. It was as part of this group I learned how to use Final Cut, Adobe Premier Pro for editing and Adobe Audition for radio work such as soundscapes and pod casts. It was at Media Education that I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in film making. Being part of this group gave me confidence and the drive to finish my studies and apply to college. It also gave me the technical skills required to direct, film and edit.
In August 2014 I was accepted at Edinburgh College to study an HND in Television with multi camera operation. College gave me the opportunity to gain qualifications and experience in all areas including television . I received an ‘A’pass at HND level in 2016.
During my HND course in Television I provided makeup for other students short films and it seemed the logical step to apply for a Makeup Artistry HND course at Edinburgh college in Granton. Having worked for a small media company in the past making educational films I felt that I would be more employable having another technical skill and makeup seemed the ideal choice. Also it was something I could fall back on when jobs were scarce. I achieved an HND in Makeup Artistry ‘A’ pass in 2018.
Since completing my studies I have worked on various projects including photoshoots, editing informational shorts and filming live events. I have been able to utilise both my skills as a makeup artist and my post production skills as an editor.
