I am a film critic/programmer and novelist based in London. My accent makes people think I'm American. I am not, but it's funny to make people squint at me.
I have been writing and making videos for the UK's leading film blogs since March 2014. I love a good blockbuster as much as a great indie film; it's not about the boom factor, but rather - is the story good? Are the characters believable? Did I forget where I was for an hour or two because of how engaging this film was? Most of the time, the answer is no; it is surprisingly hard to find a good character-driven film these days.
I've got a film-focused YouTube channel (Cinescapist TV) as well as a writing-focused/vloggy one (Two G(r)eeks). If you're into video content, I've gotcha.
I've been accredited press for several film festivals in the UK, including London Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Sundance London, and Raindance. I have also helped curate a film festival at the Barbican, with the Barbican Young Programmers, called Chronic Youth in 2016.
Since then I've been volunteering as a programmer at the Deptford Cinema, an entirely volunteer-run, DIY community cinema in South London. We put on some really cool films. You should come check us out.
I'm also working on my first novel, but that's more of a solo thing, I guess.
