About
Mexican born award-winning London based drama and documentary director. I Began my journey into film, when I won the competition “Te Doy 3 por Mexico” with my first short film “Dance for change” which was awarded by Mexico’s First Lady. Moved to London in 2012, with the intention to tell international stories where I can mix my Latin cultural background with European collaborations.
Since then, I have directed a number of successful short films which screened at Oscar and BAFTA qualifying film festivals in the UK and overseas. My short “Quetzal” was an international co-production between the UK, Mexico and Romania and was shot in the Mexican jungles. “Quetzal” premiered at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival and received the jury award at Les Femmes Underground Film Festival.
In 2018 I directed a short film commissioned by Bucharest International Dance Film Festival alongside award winning dancer and choreographer Laura Andrei. “Never Ending” premiered and won 2nd place at BIDFF and is currently doing the festival circuit. Most recently I directed a documentary shot undercover in Greek Refugee camps with the help of independent NGOs. Laji’in: Birds Without Homeland”, tells the story of three Syrian refugees in Lesvos, Greece. It is now in the festival circuit, most recently nominated for best cinematography at Underwire Film Festival, won best documentary at Thunderdance Film Festival and has had multiple private screenings to create awareness about the refugee crisis.
This year I was featured in Badass.Gal a project by the Young Creative Council to celebrate young female creatives. I am currently in post-production for a comedy mockumentary short with Printroom Productions and in development for my first feature about sisterhood, “The Family Way”. My goal is to continue to make culturally relevant and empowering films that allow the audience to extend their horizon.
